The Acquisitions | Another Paula’s Choice Order

I believe that I’ve already mentioned that I recently started a new job and since I received my first couple of paychecks and all, I’ve bought more than a few things – and four of those things were from a Paula’s Choice order that I made, so today I’m going to type on about it. It does indeed include a few of those products that I’ve been continuously featuring in my wishlist posts, which does excite me to no end.

Paula’s Choice Resist C15 Super Booster ($48 US/ 0.67 ounces)

With my first foray into Paula’s Choice back in March, I received a lovely trial size of this potent vitamin C serum and I fell in love with it because of the almost instant smoothing and brightening results. I was heartbroken when I found myself without this a month or so back to such a degree that I was motivated to place this order when the company was offering a nice promotion – simply for the sake of this product. With its potent dose of vitamin c, this lightweight serum works as an antioxidant, fighting against all forms of environmental damage – including sun damage (alongside your SPF) – and helps to add serious radiance to dull skin, smooth the texture, help to diminish uneven skin tone and increase overall clarity. I tend to use it on its own every second night but it can be mixed into another product, and I’ve been incorporating it into my daytime routine for optimal effectiveness.

Paula’s Choice Skin Recovery Lotion SPF 30 ($28 US/ 2 ounces)

My skin does not tolerate chemical sunscreen well in the least but I tend to find mineral formulas heavy and drying, so I tried this hydrating moisturizing sunscreen formula as a sample with my last order and was pleasantly surprised – it manages to provide adequate mineral protection without that bothersome texture, significant white cast while actually providing tons of hydration and soothing action to the skin. I definitely am very impressed with this antioxidant rich formula.

Paula’s Choice Skin Recovery Toner ($20/ 6.4 ounces)

Since watching the Paula’s Choice videos and learning more about their products and general skincare philosophy in the past couple of months, I’ve wanted to try one of their milky toners, as they supposedly added weightless hydration – which I’m always looking for – along with some calming action. Let me tell you, I’ve been converted – I adore how light but nourishing this toner is and I love how it gives a healthy dose of antioxidants along with nourishing oils with a featherlight texture. I imagine these would be ideal for more combination skins too because they add hydration without that heavy feel…

Paula’s Choice Resist Weightless 2% BHA Body Treatment ($25/ 7 ounces)

It has been mentioned before that since my early teenage years, I’ve struggled with body acne and while I’ve definitely managed to reduce the severity of the breakouts, it remains a concern. I’ve also mentioned before that I’m prone to eczema and find it difficult to tolerate potent treatments because they are irritating and/or drying. However, after having such success with using BHAs to prevent and treat my milder acne on my face without irritation, I was tempted to try out this antioxidant-rich BHA body lotion. I’ll keep you posted on my results but at least so far I haven’t experienced any irritation. This is also supposed to be great for treating KP and general dry skin.

As for samples, I chose the PC Skin Recovery Hydrating Treatment Mask, the PC Pure Radiance Skin Brightening Treatment and the PC Skin Recovery Cleanser, so if you’re curious I could provide my thoughts on these.

The Other Favourites

As I promised (a few days before now), I’m getting off my bum and getting started on the list of the less beauty oriented favourites that I was enjoying throughout June – and beyond. It is nearing the end of July after all…

Phillipa Gregory “The King’s Curse” ($19.99)

For my birthday on the first of June my mother got me the final novel in the historian’s Plantagenet series and I devoured it, enjoying every single page of it. This has to be my favourite book in the series, which is high praise because its one of my favourite series as of ever. I love how Phillipa Gregory bases her novels on historical events and sticks to the record, only veering when in the realm of creative liberties while creating fascinating and engrossing narratives from a variety of female perspectives. I find that her novels actually inform me of the period with their emphasis on historical context and I like how they create a framework of cause and effect during these different events that the English royalty experienced between The War of the Roses and the Tudor reign.

Nina Garcia “The One Hundred” ($19.99)

For years Project Runway has been one of my guilty pleasure shows so it’s only sensical that my love for Nina Garcia, the harsh but loveable no-nonsense judge, has grown into a particularly strong one. I’ve remained focused on editing my wardrobe and shopping smarter for a month or two now and I picked up this illustrated book, detailing 100 pieces that Nina deems essential to a woman’s wardrobe and why without being disappointed in the slightest. Toledo’s illustrations are a nice touch and I’ve actually found the writing impressive yet helpful.

American Eagle White Destroyed Denim Shorties ($55)

Having gone for so long without buying hardly anything in the clothing department and fluctuating in weight, I was due for a new pair or two of shorts and at the end of May I believe, I picked these mid-rise cutoff style ones up. They are borderline obscenely short but somehow they are short in a flattering way because they aren’t overly tight and do have a bit of a relaxed fit in the legs. I’ve been wearing my white pair many-a-time with just about anything and I do have to say that I enjoy how comfortable they are – along with the fun denim-printed pockets.

Talula Lipinski Sundress ($70 $50)

In expectation of wearing it to my cousin’s early July wedding, I picked up this flattering but slightly more expensive blue printed sundress from Aritzia and while I ended up wearing something else to said wedding, I’ve been loving wearing this easy floaty sundress. It has a comfortable skater kind of silhouette with a flattering nipped-in waist that I enjoy tremendously because mine is certainly not the slimmest in the world, and even moreso it has this lightweight breezy fabric that feels soft and actually holds up in the heat and humidity. Essentially, I’ve been happily grabbing for this short sundress because it is an easy instant outfit and it has the most slimming fit ever. Bath & Body Works Bow Ties & Bourbon 3-Wick Candle ($22.50)

As if I could somehow go a month without including a scented candle in my general favourites post and neglect to mention one in one of these kinds of posts… Well, throughout June this candle addict happily burned this more sophisticated cologne-esque scent whenever I could stand it. It has definitely moved its way up into my absolute favourites — as I did purchase another — because of its more unique and refined vanilla, sandalwood and rich woodsy scent. It’s one of those candles that hits just the right spot for me, with a lingering but not overpowering scent and a candle that reads as seasonless.

June 2015 Favourites

My apologies for the most belated favourites post that I’ve ever done but I’ve been busy and exhausted with a new job, so this later date is going to have to do. I’m pleased to report that while this is a smaller edit of product favourites (and hopefully a less lengthy post), I’ve been loving these beauty products dearly and borderline obsessively throughout June. Aaaand I will have another post up in the next few days detailing my more random favourites because they did really add up this time around…

Clinique Deep Comfort Body Butter ($35)

Throughout June, my dry and irritated skin was loving this gentle and indulgence fragrance-free treat. Although there is nothing miraculous in the formula, – not that it would have an impact if there was considering the jar packaging – I have been enjoying this slightly pricier rich cream because a little goes a long way and it instantly soothes even more severe dry eczema patches without any sort of burning or stinging sensation.

L’Oreal Magic Lumi Highlighter in 860 Fair/Clair ($15)

I’ve been reaching for this light-coverage concealer-highlighter-hybrid on a daily basis, either over the top of a more intensive correcting concealer (when my dark circles were severe enough that I knew that this pale pink formula was not going to provide enough help) or on its own when I was just looking for some brightness. I adore how light and weightless the formula is and how undetectable it is on the skin but I don’t love how alcohol-laden the formula is – and I’m not sure how I feel about the colour match, as it seems a bit too pale for any sort of coverage at the moment. However, it was a nice one for adding instant brightness in a few seconds.

Guerlain Terracotta Joli Teint Powder Duo in 01-Clair Brunettes ($60)

Throughout June, my obsessive love for this limited edition bronzer did not wane in the slightest. Unless I was reaching the next product for a more contoured look – rather than a healthy glow – I’ve happily been swirling this gorgeous bronzing powder on my cheeks, forehead and jawline. With a kabuki brush, I find that it adds the perfect amount of warmth and a non-shimmery healthy glow to the skin with minimal effort and time involved – and I love that you can use the sliver of peach as a blush. It’s just so smooth and finely milled. I promise I will actually get onto doing a full-fledged review of this – honestly.

MAC Matte Powder Blush in Blunt ($21/$26)

On days that I’ve wanted a sculpted look rather than a bronzed glow, I’ve been reaching for my newly acquired neutral brown contouring powder. It’s not actually cool toned but it isn’t warm either so it can help to sculpt but it does not leave any sort of grey cast – and it’s so pigmented that I have to be careful but because of this, it would suit a wide variety of skin tones. I like to concentrate it in the hollows of my cheeks with the Real Techniques Contour Brush before dusting the excess along my temples to achieve a subtle sculpted effect that doesn’t read too over the top in everyday life.

Revlon Colorstay Moisture Stain in Milan Moment ($15)

I wasn’t gravitating towards or particularly enjoying any sort of high maintenance lip product throughout June, but I did adore this staining but nourishing non-sticky balmy product. I love the semi-sheer tangerine tint that it leaves on my lips even after I’ve drank coffee and the like – and more than that, I love how it stains effectively but still leaves that balmy hydrating texture. There’s something so indulgent about this hydrating and lightweight formula that actually fades in a gradual subtle way that does not require any maintenance or thought.

The July Wishlist

Seeing as I don’t feel exhausted or anything of that sort today, I have the day to relax and that I’ve missed my regular blogging schedule as of late, I knew as soon as I woke up this morning that I wanted to write a blog post. However, I have so many different ideas for blog posts that choosing the first one on the list proved difficult but I did eventually figure that a wishlist would be most appropriate – it is a new month after all and after starting a new job and working a good amount, I actually might have some business buying at the very least some of these things…

I’m still fixated on simplifying and generally sorting out my wardrobe and a nice semi snazzy camisole like this one that can be dressed up or down and does not show a ridiculous amount of boob has caught my eye and made it to the to-buy list. I saw this one in the store and it’s gorgeous and not ridiculously overpriced and I’ve got my eye on it now.

Ruth Crilly Colab Sheer Invisible Dry Shampoo in Monaco ($?)

I’ve always really wanted to get into the whole dry-shampoo shebang, but I’ve found that  they either don’t seem to do anything at all – least of all, add some texture and lift to my often drab roots – or that they leave this ridiculous white residue. I’ve been a long time follower of Ruth Crilly and I’m tempted to believe that her line does what it says so now that it has landed in Canada at an affordable price, I’m ready to try it out. I’m the most tempted to try out this unisex-leaning aquatic scent offering.

PF Candle Co. no 4 Teakwood & Tobacco Soy Candle ($24)

I might have managed to go a month without including a Bath & Body Works scented candle in my wishlist post but don’t think that I’m doing one without discussing a scented candle that I’ve got my sights set on. I’ve always wanted to try the kind of expensive more sophisticated masculine-leaning candle scent but I only knew that it was available online and I didn’t exactly want to pay shipping and all that but now that Urban Outfitters has opened and is stocking the gorgeous scent I’m not going to be able to resist for much longer.

Urban Decay Naked Smoky Palette ($64)

I don’t necessarily think that the shades in the new Urban Decay Naked Palette are so unique that they warrant a purchase if you have one or two other rendition of the neutral palette series – especially if you own the UD Smoked Palette as I do. However, there is something about the collection of a dozen shadows featuring smokier tones, nice matte colours for the crease and practicality along with shimmery everyday paler lid colours for the less daring of us that makes me lust after it.

Paula’s Choice Resist C15 Super Booster ($48 US)

Both this concentrated antioxidant treatment and the next Paula’s Choice product has been featured a good number of times on my wishlist posts without actually being purchased but now that I’ve finished my sample of this product and am running low on all my products in the next product’s category, I’m ready to bite the bullet and make the purchase. I definitely saw a difference in the brightness and overall texture of my skin from adding a few drops of this pungent liquid to my everyday routine and I’m missing it in my life.

Paula’s Choice Skin Recovery Lotion SPF 30 ($26 US)

When I tried Paula’s Choice’s impressively hydrating and soothing mineral sunscreen, I was blown away because it managed to succeed in texture and formula as a moisturizer for my demanding skin while protecting it from the sun without irritation. Now that I’m almost out of every moisturizer in my possession, I’m ready to go all out for this relatively affordable one.

L’Oreal True Match Lumi Powder Glow Illuminator in N202 ($20)

I do completely acknowledge that twenty dollars is an awful lot for a drugstore highlighter that can’t be returned if it doesn’t fit my liking, but there’s something so appealing about this newly released mosaic one. I’m a fan of all things illuminating and more than that, I’ve been impressed with L’Oreal’s smooth non-powdery powder formulas in the last year that I have an inkling that this one will be right up my alley.

The Review | Lush Ultrabland Cleanser

Long time no post, huh? It appears that I’ve taken a bit of a break but this was merely accidental – I’ve had an extraordinarily busy and exhausting week or so, I was without my laptop for a few days in (vain) hopes of a battery replacement and somehow I never quite got back into the swing of things. Well, on this fine Canada Day I thought I would bring out a review of one of those products that I’ve been loving in my busy and exhausted state to luxuriously cleanse the skin and melt off makeup with relative ease, the Lush Ultrabland Cleanser ($16.95-$29.95).

I’m skeptical of natural products because they have the potential and tendency (in my experience) to be questionable for the skin and don’t seem to have to do anything else – performing well does not seem to be a requirement, along with being formulated with natural ingredients. Ultrabland comes in two different sizes, the perfectly adequate 45 grams (as shown above) and a generous 100 grams, and the beeswax-based cleanser boasts being able to remove the toughest of makeup while still being non-irritating. It’s definitely successful as its aims in my experience, although the second ingredient (rose water) has the potential to irritate the skin because its a naturally fragrant ingredient, which is something to consider. It removes makeup along with the best of them, decimating tenacious foundations and eyeliners with ease but doesn’t quite remove every last bit of mascara upon the first attempt all of the time.

Ingredients: Almond Oil (Prunus dulcis) , Rose Water (Rosa centifolia) , Beeswax (Cera alba) , Honey (Mel) , Fresh Iris Extract (Iris florentina) , Glycerine , Rose Absolute (Rosa damascena) , Tincture of Benzoin (Styrax benzoin) , Methylparaben , Propylparaben .

It’s definitely a true cleansing balm, enough so that I’m aware of this with being my first foray into these nourishing and soothing thick balms – and I’m loving it. It’s a therapeutic experience applying the smallest amount on my fingertips and then massaging the buttery product into my skin and on my eyelids and not just because of the pleasant almond oil and rose scent. Unfortunately, it’s balmy enough that it does not emulsify to rinse cleanly – in other words, this requires a washcloth for removal and won’t be for you if you hate any sort of residue. I love the little bit of hydration and soothing factor that the teensiest bit of residue leaves on my dry skin but I’m aware that it’s not for everyone. The balm agrees with my sensitive skin and hasn’t lead to any sort of irritation, bump or breakout and offers that indulgence that balms provide with a relatively low price tag. I’m partial to how this product doesn’t promise anything miraculous and therefore is able to deliver on its claims. In a nutshell, I would recommend Lush’s Ultrabland in two scenarios: if you’re eager to try a balm cleanser without spending a fortune or if you are a fan of natural products.

The Bath & Body Works Semi-Annual Sale Purchases

It was a foregone conclusion that I would end up succumbing to the allure of the Bath & Body Works Semi-Annual Sale, given my obsession with their candles and interest in their other products – and limited funds. I’m actually rather impressed that I held out this long, but yesterday I stopped in the store and left with six items that impressively cost me less than forty five dollars – and I do not regret a single one of them.

The $3/12 promotion on ‘select body care’ prompted my first foray into the realm of the store’s body care line. As soon as I saw the Bath & Body Works Mahogany Teakwood Fine Fragrance Mist ($3/12 from $15), I knew that I could not resist picking up the relaxing subtly-masculine scent in body spray form. I’m not really a body spray kind of girl but I was willing to make an exception for this warm woody scent. It does smell exactly like the candle in the best way possible. Having severely dry skin, I can always use a nice cream or five so I picked up two products that fit into that category. The first was the uniquely textured Bath & Body Works Sheer Cotton & Lemonade Body Souffle ($3/12 from $15.50) and was the easiest choice because the ingredients were more up my alley, focusing on butters and oils and I love a good thick cream. The scent is really nice too, not sweet in the least and fresh and water-y with a hint of citrus. And I love the soothing cream in the few times that I’ve applied it. I wasn’t sure what to go for to complete the offer but I kind of liked the floral-tinged citrusy scent offering so I picked up the Bath & Body Works Magnolia & Clementine Ultra Shea Body Cream ($3/12 from $14.50) to try. However, I am tempted to perhaps exchange the scent for Sheer Cotton & Lemonade, given that I seem to like it so much…

Obviously, I let myself purchase a few candles given how low my stash is getting and the persuasive discounted prices but surprisingly, two were repurchases – and I’m not exactly one that is decisive and willing to commit in this way. I couldn’t resist picking up another one of the Bath & Body Works Sparkling Limeade Mason-Jar Candle ($5 from $13.50) after enjoying the fresh herbal lime scent so much a little while back and seeing it on for such a good price. I’m about half-way done burning the one that I currently have in my collection and I’m in all kinds of love with the scent so I found myself instantly grabbing the Bath & Body Works 3-Wick Candle in Bow Ties & Bourbon ($11 from $22.50) – after all, the cologne-y and musky scent has that vanilla sweetness that is all kinds of appealing and different. The only new candle that I picked up was the recently released Bath & Body Works 3-Wick Candle in Nantucket Sail ($11 from $22.50) that unsurprisingly fit into the subtly masculine cologne-y candle category – my favourite. Unlike other beloved candle offerings, this one leans much fresher and has that aquatic note along with a faint citrus scent and it does seem different and consequently summer appropriate.

All in all I was pleasantly surprised by the sale. In Canada, their sale prices seemed equal to those in the US, which was exciting and a little surprising and I quite enjoyed how they gave out plenty of coupons for the future along with the deals. My only disappointment was that the coloured glass candle collection was not included in the sale…

The Morning Skincare Routine Update

While I haven’t had the worst skin the world, I have always struggled with my skin. I deal with moderate acne on the body and milder stuff on the face, have eczema and otherwise catastrophically dry and sensitive skin, have issues with redness, clarity and texture but since beginning this blog, I’ve noticed remarkable improvements in my skin. Over the last two years, my skin has improved as I’ve stuck to my skincare findings and have made tweaks here and there, but my skin is at its finest with my current routine that I’ve been consistent with for three or four months. Rather than rambling on and on about the products, I figured that I would update you all on the products that I’m currently using in the morning. And by the way, I promise my routine is more consistent than it sounds. Basically, this routine has done its best to keep my skin calm and hydrated and clear by sticking to gentle products and ensuring that my skin renews more effectively – it seems to naturally be very sluggish.

First off, I gently cleanse my skin, generally with the underrated Neutrogena Extra Gentle Cleanser ($9-10) [review], or if I cannot be bothered to actually apply and then rinse something, I just go for the classic Bioderma Sensibio H20 ($22).

Without fail, I follow up by applying the Paula’s Choice Resist Daily Smoothing Treatment ($30 US) [review] to get that AHA brightening action (along with a boost of BHA),with some moisture and a general calming effect on my skin. A couple of times per week, I’ve been applying a few drops of my sample of the Paula’s Choice Resist C15 Super Booster ($48 US) to ensure that I’m getting the environmental protection that the antioxidants provide during the nighttime – as I was beginning to feel that I wasn’t getting the most of the product solely at night.

Afterwards, I either use my favourite facial oil, the Caudalie Vinosource Overnight Recovery Oil ($55), [review] or one of the two lovely facial moisturizers that I’m alternating at the moment, depending on how my skin is – the Kiehl’s Skin Rescuer ($46) and my love, the Caudalie Vinosource Intense Moisture Rescue Cream ($40) [review].

I do use two moisturizers because my skin reacts to chemical sunscreens and mineral formulas are not hydrating enough on their own – and because makeup sits so much nicer if I do double up. Speaking of mineral sunscreen, every day I reach for either the Skin79 Snail Nutrition BB Cream ($36) [review] or the Avene Mineral Cream SPF 50+ ($30) for protection without irritating my spectacularly sensitive skin.

The Beauty Bargain #12| L.A. Girl Glazed Lip Paint in Elude

It’s definitely been a while since I’ve done one of these Beauty Bargain posts; I suppose it’s because my focus has not been on drugstore beauty and more particularly, I’ve been trying to avoid drugstore overspending – and just spending in general – so although I have a good number of unreviewed drugstore products in my collection, I have not been focused on reviewing them. However, today this is going to change. The L.A. Girl Glazed Lip Paint in GLG788 Elude ($4 US/ $6 CDN) was one of the many products that I purchased months and months ago as part of that lip buying binge on sale and despite multiple promises to review the purchases in entirety, they have been left in my acrylic drawer untalked about.

DSC_0680It was undeserving of this neglect, along with many of the other products also purchased. The neutral nudey-pink has a nice opaque and comfortable, non-sticky balmy gloss formulation and it impresses me, even with the high standards and general hatred of gloss that I have. Impressively, the formula is actually lightweight but moisturizing on the lips.It says something that the only complaints that I can type are that the subtle peppermint oil used to fragrance the gloss could potentially be unnecessarily irritating and that the comfortable formula is not as long lasting as it claims.

This product is both among the most affordable at the drugstore and easily available, here at most Lawton’s Drugs in Canada and goes on sale frequently – the reason I picked it up in the first place – and comes in a wide assortment of colours. As with my other favourite lip product, this glides over dry and flaky patches like a champ. On an ending note, please excuse how weirdly yellow my undereyes and chin look below – they certainly did not look like that in real life…

The Review | Caudalie Vinosource Overnight Recovery Oil

Ever since I was given the Caudalie Vinosource Overnight Recovery Oil ($55) for Christmas last year, I’ve been happily applying it underneath my moisturizer in the serum stage, both evening and morning. The oil might be pricy but it does what it says, working impressively to soothe and restore dry sensitive skin overnight and only requiring a few drops to do so. In the six months that I’ve been using this oil consistently for six months and have noticed that it has definitely helped to soothe and nourish my sensitive skin, deal with dry patches like a champ and adds radiance.

Caudalie describes the oil in more detail as being “formulated with a blend of six 100% natural plant and essential oils” and claims that the dry oil “deeply nourishes, soothes sensitive skin prone to redness or irritation, and repairs the skin’s barrier”. Caudalie also claims that “upon awakening, the skin regains a soft, supple texture that feels transformed, fresh and radiant”; while these claims do sound a bit exaggerated (as the claims of skincare do have a tendency to be), I actually do believe that this oil has helped to do what it has promised. My only hesitation is the amount of essential oil contained in the blend, as while the rose smells lovely, it does have the potential for even greater irritation than regular fragrance – but I haven’t noticed any of this come into play, even on my rather reactive skin. And it is worth noting that the rose essential oil is towards the bottom of the ingredient list, so it’s less problematic than if it were the first ingredient. Also, oil blends such as this one tend to be worth investing in because they provide the benefits of all of the different oils rather than a singular one.

Ingredients: Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Seed Oil, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Sesamum Indicum (Sesame) Seed Oil, Cymbopogon Martini Oil, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Rosa Damascena Flower Oil, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract, Geraniol, Citronellol, Linalool, Citral, Farnesol, Eugenol, Limonene.

The bottle is a nice, standard 1 ounce opaque glass with a sturdy dropper applicator and is rather pretty in an unassuming way and is efficient. The texture is surprisingly hydrating for a dry oil but it behaves as one, feeling lightweight and quickly absorbing into the skin and leaving a glow without a hint of oily residue and I do appreciate that a little goes a long way. I would recommend this oil to anyone willing to shell out the price tag who is looking for a soothing oil to try and does not have an issue with rose essential oil. For combination skin types or those that are not consistently dehydrated, this oil might only be ideal for nighttime but on my dehydrated and just plain dry skin, it’s a godsend even in the mornings. I would definitely consider repurchasing it in the future after I finish this bottle but at the moment I’ve purchased a more affordable single note organic rosehip oil to use after I run out of this beauty.

The June Midweek Wishlist

Another month, another wishlist post? Sounds about right… Plus, there’s always something oddly therapeutic about recording my thoughts on various items catching my eye.

Recently Updated78Bath & Body Works Nantucket Sail 3-Wick Candle ($11): I’ve been a good girl, actually burning through my candles rather than hoarding them and it is the Semi-Annual Sale at the moment so it’s only fitting that I might consider purchasing a candle or two. I’ve got my sights on this one, after hearing that it’s a subtly masculine-leaning aquatic scent, similar to the no-longer-available Beach Day candle from last year.

American Eagle Crochet Front Romper in Cream ($73.77): I adore the cream hue and the whole romper concept, and in my recently renewed interest in clothing shopping, I’ve been fixated on this flowy number. I’m definitely going to snap this one up once its inevitably put on sale. I find these cream hues flattering, especially once I’ve gotten any semblance of colour, along with the relaxed cut.

Paula’s Choice Resist C15 Super Booster ($48): After using this potent vitamin C product for a couple of months and noting that I’m at the very end of it with genuine anxiety and sadness, I’ve come to realize that I’ve come to love this product, hot dog smell and all. It feels soothing and hydrating on my skin and definitely helps with texture and overall brightness of my skin without being bothersome even when my skin is at its most sensitive.

Bourjois Rouge Edition Aqua Lacque in Appechissant ($24): I’m a major fan of the popular Velvet formulation but tend to prefer more moisturizing and balmy formulas so it was a no-brainer that I really wanted to try one as soon as they launched in Canada. I’ve got to say that that I don’t think the shade range is as fabulous as its sister product but this medium-toned corally shade is right up my alley.

Revlon Colorstay Moisture Stain in Cannes Crush ($14.99): Speaking of comfortable balmy lip products, I rediscovered my love for tangerine Milan Moment and have consequently decided that I must get another less outwardly orange shade – and this pinky coral seems ideal. These are expensive for the drugstore (as are Bourjois), but the balmy, comfortable and staining formula is worth it.

Annabelle Stay Sharp Waterproof Lipliner in Nude ($9.95): Despite having doubts about mechanical liners, I absolutely adore the formula of these creamy pencils and as much as I love the brown-hued rosy shade, sometimes I find it a bit too brown with nude and peachy lip offerings. The Nude shade looks like it might be ideal.

Sephora Collection Pro Precision Smudge Brush #29 ($23): While brushes are not the most glamorous and exiting of beauty purchases, I do find that they can make such a difference and I’ve decided that this pencil brush is the next on the list. I’ve wanted a pencil-slash-smudge brush for well over five years and it shall be worth the investment for applying shadow as liner and creating a smudgy outer corner and lashline. I’ve have been curious to try Sephora’s brushes in general so it would be like hitting two birds with one stone.
