The Monthly Roundup #3: February 2014

It feels rather nice (understatement) to say that February is over and even nicer because the statement is actually true. As you can probably imagine, this was not my favourite month of my life but despite the stress and abundant deadlines, I survived and I’m pleased to report I whipped out 17 blogposts throughout the month. It was both the shortest and the longest month for me – because of the deadlines time flew by and it only had twenty-eight days but time goes by rather slowly when you spend it staring at the screen of your laptop and trying to make something productive out of this solitude. I wouldn’t be me without one of these rambly introductions, so don’t try to be too angry at me for this one. 🙂
1. Makeup Additions #2:
IMG_5282Although I do admittedly enjoy haul’ posts and videos, I haven’t felt right about posting about my purchased but then this one happened and it didn’t feel entirely self-indulgent…
The Daily Face #9:

I’m not going to lie, I’m predisposed to include this post due to my pride for the decent photography here – I’m horrible at that whole photo-taking thing – but the makeup look was one of my favourites and I repeated it often.
3. Luminous Skin Lineup:

I’ve been meaning to write this post for months and months — I do kind of maybe sort of have an obsession with luminous skin — and I was happy with how the post turned out!
4. February Favourites:IMG_5898
Even though lighting presented some challenges with this one, I found a pleasing amount of fantastic products in the last month and it has to be one of my favourites of these kinds of posts that I’ve written in ages.
5. The Sort-of-Snowed-In Edit:
IMG_5319
This post precisely depicted my life for the last month, I must say, and it was a spur-of-the-moment post idea that I was really glad I went for as it kind of brought me out of my creativity drought. The last month here has been a massive storm after another and more often than not it less than -10 degrees and either blowing snow or full-on freezing rain so I thought I’d share the authentic Canadian experience with you all while rambling on about products.
What were your favourite posts this month? I’d love to hear about any that you wrote or those written by others that you enjoyed!

The Monthly Roundup #2: January 2014

IMG_5017_fotorfive_fotor

Blogging-wise I’m pleased to say that I’m rather happy with myself this month. I managed to have twenty entries this month and although that’s not daily or anything, it’s pretty damn good in my book. I aim to keep it up. And I’ve been pretty happy with my content this month so here it goes.

1. Maybelline Hi-lighting Bronzer in Deep Bronze

I’ve talked about this product (and the post itself) on a variety of occasions this month so this shouldn’t be much of a surprise but I fell in love with the product this month and somehow managed to put up a detailed review fairly soon after its release. I’ll shut up now.

2. Indeed Labs Pepta-Bright

This was one of those posts that I had been meaning to do for ages but never quite got around to until recently and I was pleased with the result. It’s a hero skincare product of mine in short and it’s bloody fantastic and the review is much more detailed obviously…

3.  The Daily Face #6: Warm and Smoky

After going through one of those blah phases when I wasn’t happy with my makeup for about a week straight, this is what pulled me out. It’s one of those makeup “looks” – I’m beyond hesitant to call it that — that was flattering and warm using the beloved Naked Palette, looking smoky but not over the top. Easily my favourite daily makeup of my month, hands down.

4. NARS Golshan Satin Lip Pencil

This post served as another piece of evidence of my mission to post actual product reviews frequently here and the product itself is divine and the shade does not get the recognition it deserves, if you ask me. It’s a gorgeous warm-toned wearable deep berry lip that does not dry out the lips or wear off weirdly.

5. Weekly Medley #1

This is a recent post and the first in a new series of mine that I have committed myself to and I was pleased how the chatty post turned out. You’ll have to let me know your thoughts. I rather enjoyed the mixture of lifestyle and casual beauty check-in post and I’m determined to continue with the series.

What were your favourite posts this week?

Maggie, x.

The Monthly Roundup #1: December 2013

img_3184_fotor

1. December 2013 Favourites where I ramble on about my favourites of the list and take a blog photo (and edit it) that I’m rather proud of.
2. Daily Makeup #4: Non-Festive Holiday Makeup & Playing With New Products – where I gush about a good number of my Christmas beauty product additions, ramble a bit about my life as per usual and talk about the non-festive makeup I wore on Christmas day. I was proud of myself for not being cliched and wearing red lips… not that there’s anything wrong with that…
3. My Top Six Cold-Weather Lipstickswhere I somewhat successfully photograph lip swatches of my favourite lipsticks with the same makeup and consequently make my poor dry and chapped lips revolt. I was rather proud of myself for being informative about each shade and formulation while being brief – for my standards anyway.
4. Top Thirteen Beauty Products of 2013 – where I make good on my personal challenge of narrowing down my favourite products to a scant thirteen, use my best efforts to provide concise and informative mini-reviews of each product and don’t go on an on about each product.                                                                                                                                                                        5. Base Bonaza: Dior Diorskin Nude Skin Glowing Makeup– where I make personal progress at taking high-quality product photos (in my opinion at least), force myself to write the review I’ve been meaning to write for weeks and reveal my thoughts on another foundation in my excessive stash.

I’ve always really enjoyed reading these kinds of monthly round-up posts and figured that it was time to start doing my own – but that wasn’t my entire motivation. I figure if I start doing these on the monthly, it will motivate me to keep posting frequently as I have been in the last month or so even though I’ll be weighed down by the force of that thing that one has to do at that dreaded institution known as University, work.

Thanks for reading. X

Maggie
